Designing Out Risk: Embedding Security in the Planning System
As cities continue to grow and evolve, the way we design our built environment plays a critical role in how safe and resilient our public spaces are. This panel brings together leading voices from planning, design, law and governance to examine how security is being embedded into planning systems from the very start. The discussion will explore how secured by design principles are being applied to planning applications, and how authorities are approaching the challenges of terrorism risk, access control and hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM). With reference to high profile projects, the panel will highlight real world examples of security considerations being integrated into urban design.
