However, there is only one way to ‘future-proof’ a product and that is by continuous redevelopment and reinvention. Building on the success of the existing platform, Bold are pleased to announce the launch of Gemini version 2.0.
Enhancements across the whole v2.0 release have been implemented, many of them focusing on CCTV functionality. In addition to handling a wide range of different CCTV systems from different sites, it is now possible for an operator to view live and event video in a single screen to quickly make a determination about the incident at the monitored site.
Processing and automation features mean that events can be managed in realtime as they are transmitted to the control room, only delivering actionable information to the workstation screen. Responses are managed with manual and automatic processing workflow tasks to ensure the right action is taken at the right time.
Innovative design technology has been implemented to manage high volume false and duplicate signals, many new CCTV interfaces have been added and existing ones updated.
Improved System Admin
Setting up new sites and devices has been streamlined, with automatic downloading of configuration data. High level integration has been developed further, linking areas and zones with actions, multiple device types, schedules and contingencies. Communication with, and management of, devices and systems at remote sites has been made easier, extending the services which the control room can offer.
Reporting features have been enhanced with new graphical and custom options for bespoke management information. Major development work has also taken place in the areas of Gemini web and smartphone clients. Additional modules have been developed to integrate peripheral monitoring response functions with core alarm accounts and contacts.
Monitoring software differs from the type of applications operated by a user when a specific task is required, for example, a billing or service management system. A monitoring application, on the other hand, pushes the task to the user in realtime, effectively saying – something has just happened, you need to act. At that point, the information and instructions needs to be logical, simple and unambiguous.
Designed for the UK security sector, Gemini has always been popular amongst users wanting to avoid system clutter, complexity and confusion. An operator sitting in front of Gemini for the first time will not need more than a few moments to start getting a feel for what is going on and what needs to be done. Despite adding a new generation of features and enhancements in v2.0, the essential level of usability has been retained.
Feedback from early adopters of Gemini v.2.0 has been positive with this software release now the standard deployment for all Bold monitoring projects. New users already include Gough & Kelly, JD Sports plc, Sharp Group, and many other commercial and private monitoring control rooms.
