Over A Decade On: Protecting Our War Memorials with In Memoriam 2014

Using SmartWater forensic marking technology, thousands of memorials across the country have been marked and protected, ensuring that valuable metal components and plaques can be quickly identified if stolen and returned to their rightful place.
Each SmartWater application provides a unique forensic code that links directly to the individual memorial. This acts as a strong deterrent to criminals and supports police investigations by offering robust traceability and evidence in the event of theft. The solution continues to be provided free of charge, supporting communities and reinforcing the national commitment to remembrance and crime prevention.
A decade on, In Memoriam 2014 remains an important example of how innovation and collaboration can protect our shared heritage.
