COVID SAFETY ENTRY GUIDELINES

Working together to protect us all

Your safety and that of all our exhibitors, partners, visitors, contractors and staff is our highest priority.

We are working closely with the NEC, who have been in constant contact with senior government officials and local health authorities throughout the pandemic, to create a controlled, safe and clean environment to do business and we fully comply with government guidance on managing the risk of COVID-19.

In line with the latest guidance from government, The NEC and the Association of Event Organisers, we have taken the decision to verify attendee COVID-19 status on arrival at the event (to include visitors, exhibitors, contractors, venue and organiser staff).

*** All attendees must be prepared to show proof of either ***

a) Proof of completion of a full course of vaccination two weeks prior to arrival via the NHS COVID Pass (NB This is different to the NHS COVID-19 Test and Trace app), EU Digital Pass or equivalent for internationals. It is advised individuals apply no later than 48 hours before attending their event to allow for the application to be processed in time.

OR

b) Lateral flow or PCR negative test results text or e-mail, received within 72 hours prior to attending the event. We will ask to see the NHS email or text message you received once you reported your result to the NHS. The fastest way to report your Lateral Flow Test result is online. We will not accept the physical test or a photo of the test.

If visitors would prefer not to use the app or do not have a smartphone they can obtain a NHS COVID Pass letter (proving vaccination status only) by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website. Visitors with a medical exemption should advise a member of staff during the checking process.

OR

C) Proof of immunity shown by a positive PCR test result for COVID-19, lasting for 180 days from the date of the positive test and following completion of the self-isolation period.

If visitors would prefer not to use the app or do not have a smartphone they can obtain a NHS COVID Pass letter (proving vaccination status only) by calling 119 or visiting the NHS website. Visitors with a medical exemption should advise a member of staff during the checking process.

You can find more details and advice on the process at the venue here.

Our COVID Commitment

We want to make it as easy as possible for anyone to attend the Safety & Security Series and Emergency Services Show, and we will use a common-sense approach to ensure you can visit the events with confidence.

For enhanced safety, and peace of mind, the NEC has added some additional measures and we ask everyone in attendance to adhere to our COVID Commitment which outlines the measures in place before, upon arrival and during the events, to ensure you can attend with confidence.

In line with the latest government guidance and the Association of Event Organisers, we have taken the decision to verify attendee COVID-19 status on arrival at the event (to include visitors, exhibitors, contractors, venue and organiser staff).

This means all attendees will need to demonstrate proof of COVID-19 status for entry to the event. This will need to be one of the following:

1) All attendees must be prepared to show proof of either

a) Proof of completion of a full course of vaccination two weeks prior to arrival via the NHS COVID Pass (NB This is different to the NHS COVID-19 Test and Trace app), EU Digital Pass or equivalent for internationals. This will be checked before entry to the NEC at which point no further checks will be required.

2) All attendees must agree NOT to attend if they answer YES to any of the following questions

  • Are you feeling unwell, including a high temperature, new continuous cough and a loss of, or change to, your sense of smell or taste?

Safety Measures within the Show

Facemask While face masks will no longer be mandatory, we encourage visitors, exhibitors and staff to take personal responsibility and to wear a face-covering in any situation which is crowded or while in close proximity to other people, including in workshops or seminar theatres. We do however recognise that there are circumstances preventing people from wearing a face covering and, being mindful and respectful of this, staff will not challenge or ask for evidence from visitors who advise that they cannot wear a face covering or who make the personal choice not to. We hope that all will be equally respectful.

Print at home

All attendees will be asked to print their badges at home in order to minimise queues and contact, in the registration areas.
Ventilation The NEC mechanical ventilation is controlled by the NEC’s Building Management Systems to monitor air quality and other parameters. In line with current Government guidance, the NEC has recommissioned the ventilation plant to maximise fresh air rates and where appropriate upgraded the filters to NHS hospital standards.
Restaurant All restaurants and cafes are set up to minimise contact points, this includes accepting only contactless payments for a safer and speedier service. The venue has installed protective screens across all outlets and staff will continue to wear face coverings.
Cleaning Frequent and thorough cleaning of public areas, toilets and touchpoints around the venue
handwash Hand sanitiser and/or handwashing facilities will be provided throughout the venue. We recommend you bring your own supply as well.
extra toliets Additional toilets will be available to minimise queues
Outdoor space The NEC has outdoor space opposite the main entrance as well as by the Lakeside. You can gain readmission to the show with a wristband on departure.
